In this unit we have examined the reasons Europeans attempted to stretched out over the globe in an attempt to build massive empires. Over the next week we will examine strong willed nationalist leaders who resisted Europeans, and more often their government officials beholden to outside influences. India, South Africa, Japan, China, and The Americas are to be examined.

Assignment 1. Create a summary for each revolutionary, and at least three methods that they used to resist Imperialism.
2. Which of these revolutionaries offered the most effective means of resistance to Imperialism? Write one paragraph (4-6 complete sentences) that that includes evidence from your summaries and answers the question.
3. One way to resist Imperialism is to remove everything that is not of your culture from your life. Gandhi was an extreme example of this, but we also do this to a lesser extent in our everyday lives. In the 21st Century we resist Commercialism or Consumerism.
Ex. Ethnic Markets: My friend Tran shops at an Asian Market on Park Avenue in Cranston instead of major supermarkets like Shaws and Stop n' Shop.
